Macdill Afb Education Center - In January 2017, its new main campus opened its doors. Adjacent to USSOCOM headquarters at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL, this state-of-the-art facility was designed specifically with education in mind, serving as a central hub for innovative, joint SOF education that Supports traditional resident courses. The campus consists of classroom/seminar rooms with breakout spaces, two auditoriums, three collaboration rooms and faculty and staff office space, the USSOCOM Library and History Office, media development areas, organizational support facilities, and learning Fields of interest. It hosts a range of state-of-the-art capabilities that are integrated to best facilitate traditional, blended and distance learning (DL). Campus capabilities allow for unparalleled DL capability to enable real-time learning in multiple locations to include division headquarters, the National Capital Region, and theater special operations commands (TSOCs). These capabilities reduce travel while expanding opportunities for interaction with peers in local SOF communities and the availability of expertise within the SOF Learning Collaborative Network. Campus Hall houses the College of Special Operations, the Enlisted Academy and Center for Continuing Education, the Center for Special Operations Studies and Research, and the Department of Academic Affairs. This world-class facility demonstrates USSOCOM's significant commitment to training its forces. The move to this new building ensures that the university is recognized as a leading academic institution of the 21st century as a center for joint special operations education and research.

Check-out time for accommodation is 1200 (this is a fixed time). If your schedule does not meet the 1200 check-out time, contact the property manager for other arrangements. When on-base quarters are not available, Student Services will direct students out of specially contracted commercial quarters. If contract quarters are not available from the base, the housing office will issue non-availability statements as required. Please note that accommodation for visiting families ranges from "very limited" to "not available". Unless your family members attend school in an official capacity and on official orders, they do not need to be three months old.

The Joint Special Operations University () is located at MacDill Air Force Base, eight miles south of Tampa, Florida, on Interbay Island in Hillsburgh County.

For all courses, military students may wear a combination of official uniforms that include dress uniforms, flight suits, or battle dress uniforms. Civilian employees should wear conservative, professional business casual attire (silks, open collar shirts, dresses, etc.). Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, athletic wear and other casual clothing are not permitted.

US government contract airfares will dictate your arrival and departure airports. Visitors are responsible for transportation from the airport. Commercial taxis are available. Rental cars are the responsibility of each sponsoring agency. Tampa International Airport (TPA) is 16 miles northwest of MacDill Air Force Base. Southwest, United, Continental Airlines, and Delta are the primary commercial airlines operating from these facilities.

Most courses don't finish until 1600 on Fridays. When making outbound travel plans, please consider the advertised course end times. Early departure from class for flight is not permitted.

University facilities are designed to accommodate students with special needs. The university is equipped with elevators and handicapped accessible ramps.
